The first Introductory course of Islamic arts was held during the month of August in Masjid AlSalam (Champions). During this four-week long weekend course, six of our artists taught a total of twelve classes on Islamic arts. Eleven students from all over Houston completed the course.
The students and the teachers loved and thoroughly enjoyed the course which was a great learning opportunity. During the four weeks students learned about Calligraphy (Tuluth, Nastaliq and Nasq styles), Wood carving, ceramic tile making, oil painting, and geometric and floral designs in Islamic arts. All classes were hands-on allowing the students to make their own masterpieces.
