City Hall Proclamation
On March 21st, 2023, Islamic Arts Society was honored to be invited as a partner by the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, to receive a proclamation recognizing the permanent galleries for Art of the Islamic Worlds and the inclusivity of the Spring festival at the Museum. Vice Mayor Pro Tem Martha Castex-Tatum and Council Member Letitia Plummer presented the proclamation at the City Council session. Islamic Arts Society Board members Zakai Lalani, Zafar Tahir, and Shaheen Rahman joined Dr. Aimee Froom (MFAH Curator of Islamic Art Galleries) and Dr. Caroline Goeser (MFAH Chair of Learning and Interpretation) in the Proclamation ceremony at Houston City Hall.
