Arts Society Gala March 2020
The inaugural Islamic Arts Society Gala was held on the 8th of March, 2020 at the Hilton Post Oak Hotel in Houston.
The Islamic Arts Society aims to share the rich heritage of Islamic Arts. The purpose of our first Gala was to celebrate our success, raise awareness about our events, and raise funds for our programs.
The black-tie art event was attended by many local ethnic and religious communities including members of all denominations of Muslim, Jewish, Christian, and Sikh, and other groups that call Houston home. With Mayor Sylvester Turner as keynote speaker, and over 500 local and state dignitaries and religious leaders, this event marked an important milestone towards bringing the Houston community together. The host committee was led by Mr.Shoukat Dhanani, Mr. Ayaz Nasser, and Mr. Charles Foster, and several civic and community leaders who served as members of the host committee.
During the Gala evening, attendees enjoyed the Islamic art display in a museum-like setting and took part in the silent auction aimed to raise funds for the Islamic Arts Society Building Bridges through the arts program. This was one of the last events in Houston before our city was shut down due to Covid.
We share some pictures from this beautiful event held one year ago.
